Shopping Time

OK. You're halfway thru' the course. Now you have to do some field work. Go out there and start buying!

Things to remember when buying:

• Ask for the manuals for everything possible. This goes especially for your motherboard and any stuff where you have to set the jumpers.
• Make sure you get a guarantee or receipt or something so that you can get your money back.
• Ask the shop assistants for anything you're not sure of. If they refuse (or are reluctant) to help you, or are not sure of the products they are selling, go to another shop.
• Read all the stuff on boxes carefully.
• Try out the display sets and compare the performance of different brands.
• Check out the prices at different shops. You'll be surprised at the difference in prices!
• Bring your checkbook (or credit card).
