Okay, well, I am a bit of a starving artist I guess you can say. I'm not currently in school, but I am going back, hopefully next semester. All I have to do is get a portfolio together first, which is not as easy as it seems, as the Mass College of Art wants to see good uses of colour. Now that may seem simple to most people, but my medium is generally only pencil, or pen and ink! Therefore, most of my studies are simple black and white things.
What I want to do is still up in the air a bit. I am finding that Web Design is a fun thing for me, and I am thinking about a concentration in that. But, of course, one of my lifelong dreams has been to illustrate my own comic in the Japanese market. So yeah, I am a big time Manga and Anime fan! What I am figuring I'll end up doing is majoring in illustration with a minor in web design.
I have few influences in the art world. Rumiko Takahashi is one of thos people. She is an amazing woman, as she both writes and draws her own series'. Her range also amazes me, as she can write anything from goofy sex comedies, (Ranma 1/2 and Maison Ikkoku,) to the utterly macabre. (The Mermaid titles and anything from Rumik World.) CLAMP, a company run by four women, is also something of an inspiration for me. These are four women who draw and write absolutley beautiful, intricate stories with many characters.
For your critisizing delight, I have uploaded a few of my works for you to see...
