Rose

by Imandra

The sole survivor of the wreck
roses 'round her arms and neck
she looked up at the darkened sky
the clouds on death march, floating by
then slowly it began to snow
her suffering no one could know
each flake a nail stuck in her side
nowhere to run, no time to hide
no one to hear her silent cries
the roses shrivled and she died

The farmer came out late that day
he shook his head and looked dismayed
he touched the lifeless girl and sighed
his favorite rose bush had just died
