Tolkien Probably most well known for his literary masterpieces, The Hobbit and its sequel, The Lord of the Rings, Jonathan Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born in Bloefmontain, South Africa in 1892. After serving as a lieutenant in the First World War, he had a distinguished academic career and was recognised as one of the finest philologists in the world. This part of my site is
