Thirty years in the mafia. That is the basis for the story of Henry Hill. Oh my is it a good story.
Ray Liotta narrates as Henry Hill. Henry starts off being a gopher for the taxi stand across the
street which is run by mob. Henry meets his partner in crime Tommy at the age of 16, and there starts
the story of Henry Hill. Jimmy Conway (Robert Deniro) plays the veteran criminal. Paulie (Paul Sorvino) is the
head of the crime family. Henry, Tommy, and Jimmy make a name for themselves pulling off some of the
biggest heists in American history. Goodfellas shows the timeline that eventually leads Henry
into the witness protection program. Lorraine Brocco is there the whole way with Henry, inculding through
jail time, mistresses, and constant worry. All flawless peformances including Joe Pesci as Tommy.
His instant realization of death for killing a made man is one of cinema's great moments. Martin
Scorsese directs like Scorsese. Immensley memorable cinematography and perfect pacing. Goodfellas
will be my favorite film for a long while.
