GOVERNOR HELPS CELEBRATE HONDA'S EXPANSION IN ANNA Anna Facility Becomes Honda's Largest Auto Engine Plant in the World ANNA (July 17, 2003) - Governor Bob Taft today joined representatives of Honda of America for an event showcasing a new engine line at the company's Anna facility. The $20 million project has created 100 jobs, bringing the plant's total employment to 2,850 positions. "We are proud to have Honda's largest engine plant in the world right here in Anna," Taft said. "I congratulate the entire Honda team on their extraordinary accomplishments and great success over the years. I'm pleased that Honda's latest expansion in Anna has created 100 good jobs for the people of Shelby County and will further enhance Ohio's reputation as an automotive leader and innovator." The Anna engine plant currently produces more than one million engines per year for the Accord, Civic and other models produced at Honda facilities in Marysville, East Liberty, Canada and Mexico. The new engine line increases flexibility to produce 4-cylinder and V6 engines as market conditions change and will enable the company to manufacture an additional 120,000 V6 and 4-cylinder engines per year, bringing the plant's annual engine capacity to 1.16 million. Honda is Ohio's 15th largest employer, providing jobs to more than 16,000 people statewide. Additionally, the company purchases more than $3.7 billion in parts, materials and services from 162 Ohio suppliers. Honda is the world's largest engine maker, selling more than 10 million engines each year for automotive, motorcycle, marine and power equipment applications. The Anna engine facility has produced Honda engines since July 1985.
