Journal Topic #2

An interesting site I recently visited is the City of Houston's website
The layout of the site is easily accessible and the colors blends together very nicely.

Content

The content of the City's website is very useful. You can do things such as register to
vote, check out local events, or even report a pothole. This is defnitely a one stop shop
all your city administrative needs. I found the Forms and Application Center to be very useful.
Once clicked, a table appears and lists all the administrative applications that are downloadable.
This is very convenient if you are lazy like me and do not wish to make a trip downtown to obtain a form.

Navigation

The left and right indentions
do not require the user to scroll to see the rest of the page. At the top of the websites are
navigation hyperlinks that enables the user to get to any of the major sites including Home,
Services, About Houston, Mayor's Office, Elected Officials, and City Desk. The organization
the navigation is carefully grouped according to its relevance. Services, Non-Services, and About
Houston appear on the left hand side of the page while Mayor's Office, Elected Officials, and City
Desk appear on the right.

Media Design

The design of this website was carefully planned and executed. The colors are eye appealing
and do not burn my eyes after staring at it for a while. The pictures are paint a good picture of
what the city has to offer. Although I think a picture of new places like Minute Maid Park and Reliant
Stadium would look good be an excellent fit.
