Inspired by the Athens olympic games in
1896
a group of youngsters started a sports club in october 1897.
The club was called "Idrottsföreningen Kamraterna i Helsingfors"
shortly IFK. At first IFK was a club for Track and field, Footbaal and Iceball.
Then Bowling and Handball came in.
IFK has been a club for Tennis, Swimming, shooting and Boxing too.
The last sport in IFK is Ice hockey which
started seriously in 1947.
The traditional IFK spirit is
agressive and colourful style.
