What I should know if I want to be a "dump"
1. The Computer must be online 24/7. Reboots and closing the FTP while playing onlinegames net are allowed.
2. Your connection should be atleast 5/5Mbit (5Mbit both out and in)
3. FTP-traffic must work on both directions. (if you need help, just ask)
4. If you are/want to become a "dump" you can't share stuff in kazaa/dc or with other p2p software while there are users in the FTP
5. We will quide you through the installation of the FTP-server and in its configuration. You will share only one folder (and the sub folders).. not the whole HD as most think.
6. You should have atleast 30Gb free HD space (the more the better)
7. The movies/games/apps will be in .rar packets when they are in the server (or the format that they are uploaded in to it). You can of course unpack and watch/play them if you wish aslong as the packets stay in the server
8. The folder structure in the FTP has to be very simple. Meaning movies, games, mp3s and apps all have their own folders.
9. The movies will always be dvd-screeners/rips and they will always be in divx/xvid format. So there will be no crap-quality telesyncs. (unless there is some new movie that you absolutely want to see in crappy quality)
10. The stuff will stay in the server for about a week. The removal will be settled with you.
11. You can ask games/movies/mp3s/apps your self and we will do our best to get them for you
So in a nutshell you give us a FTP-server and we will give you the latest games/movies/mp3s/apps. So you don't have to do anything else except sit and relax and the warez will come to you.
This way the stuff will move faster and everyone will be happy.
If you have some worries you can just turn off the FTP and it will be as it was before you were a dump. The risks in being a dump are much smaller than serving in kazaa/dc (for example you don't have to worry about fake files or viruses that are common in kazaa/dc)
Follow these instructions to setup your BulletProof FTP server for testing:
1. Go to Setup -> Main -> General. Pick up a name for your server (change port > 1024) and change max users e.g. 6. Click Advanced Tab and uncheck Block server-to-server transfer. Then click OK.
2. Go to Setup -> User accounts (or press Ctrl+U). In user accounts, click right button -> Add. Name your account to test. Also, change password to test. In access rights, right button -> Add a dir you want your ftp server to use, then check read,write,append,make,list,subdirs. After this go to Miscellaneous tab, check max users and change it to 6. Also check max no. of connects per IP and put 2 there. Finally, click OK.
3. Press the On-Line button on the left. If you can read the following, you have successfully configurated your FTP server: 25.10.2003 21:41:34 - FTP Server On-line : IP(s) xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, on port xxxx.
