Scene Summary
This scene has Gendo Ikari looking at this rather strange
thing suspended on a large cross. This thing appears to be basically human
at first glance, its lower half missing, and its face obscured by a mask bearing
the Selee emblem. This is Adam. The second Angel, Adam is the key to unlocking
the third impact.

Research:
Adam is one of the first two people put on Earth by God. In the Bible
Adam is one of the keys to man being trown from the Garden of Eden, just
as in Evangelion, he is the key to the third impact and the expulsion
of man from Earth. Also, his crusifiction shows him as the "messiah
of Selee." Supposedly, Selee believes that initiating the third impact
will somehow bring all humans together into a perfect consusness.
