Henderson, F and McLean, A. Report of the External Evaluator of the CAIRNS project, published as Appendix 1 of Cairns Final Report, which can be dowloaded here in pdf format. A version of the evaluation report itself is available here in (slightly messed up) html format. This report evaluates early attempts to link Z39.50-compliant library catalogues and other information services, using dynamic clumping. This was a test-bed service, aimed at the eventual goal of establishing a global unified catalogue.
