This light consists of a pair of lighthouses. The front range light is a tower that is blinded to provide the range beam. These towers are made of riveted iron plate. The front range light is 50 feet tall. The second, or rear range light, is located further inland and sets upon a small hill. This second tower is 30 feet tall. By lining up the two lamps, mariners can navigate within the channel. Interestingly, locomotive headlamps are used by the rear range tower.
