| FTP Search! The next search engines only search on FTP Servers and will not help you by guessing at what you are looking for. You must know the Magic Name or a portion of it. Magic Names are what the author used when uploading his/her software. The filenames used by the person uploading to an FTP server are often too common to locate or too unusual to memorize. Examples would be: app.zip ("app" is too common) lynx2.8.4dev.14-DOSb.zip (too long to memorize with both upper and lowercase letters just to make it easier to make a mistake and use all lowercase) But, if you do know the magic name, or a portion of it, one of these two FTP Server search engines may locate the archive for you. If neither can locate the file there is a high probability it is no longer available. Accessing ARCHIE or GOPHER servers would be your only other options. Good Luck on your search! Remember upper and lowercase letters are significant when searching! |
