Fire Apparatus - State of Wyoming

There is a wide variety of apparatus to be found in the state of Wyoming. Everything from "Quick Attack" vehicles to forest firefighting trucks to big city pumpers and ladders. Check out some of the interesting stuff I have discovered around the state. Refer to the "Pricelist" page on the homepage for prices for prints.

Atlantic City is located in the middle of nowhere and is actually a ghost town up in the mountains left over from the gold rush days. This particular day the local fire department was dedicating a new station. Their 1979 E-One/GMC pumper is one of a couple of trucks used to protect some of the homes in the area.

A 2001 American LaFrance pumper is one of several used by the Casper (WY) FD.

One of the older engines operated by the Casper (WY) FD. This is an E-One.

This 1997 E-One tower is 103' tall and is assigned to the downtown station in Casper, Wyoming.

There are several stations in the Cody area, but the main station downtown is home to this Pierce Dash pumper. With the tandum axle this pumper carries an extra amount of water for the rural areas.

A classic looking 1981 E-One/Spartan squrt is also assigned to the main station in downtown Cody.

This 1983 E-One/GMC pumper is assigned to the Fremont County fire station in Lysite.

Another Lysite truck is this 1972 American General, "duce and a half" used to fight forest fires or wildland fires as they refer to it.

Kenworth seems to be the truck of choice with several fire departments in Wyoming. This particular pumper belongs to the Meeteetse Volunteer Fire Department. Its a beauty.

Missouri Valley, WY is the proud owner of this 2000 Pierce/Kenworth pumper seen here in front of a look alike "Lincoln Log" community center/church.

A matched set with another 2000 Pierce/Kenworth tanker this time for the Missouri Valley VFD in Missouri Valley, WY. This part of the world is cowboy country with lots of ranches in the area.

A Ford crewcab fills in as the light rescue, quick attack truck for the Missouri Valley (WY) VFD. I remember being told that its a newer body with an older bed, but could use the year.

This is not all the Missouri Valley equipment, but the newer stuff. Nice equipment for such a small area. They do mutual aid with Shoshoni VFD just down the highway from them.

Rawlins, WY is on the lower end of the state and offers a good variety of equipment as seen here with their Engine 1, the newest piece in the company, a 1999 American LaFrance Eagle. American LaFrance has a factory in Casper, but this is only the second ALF I have found in the state.

This 1980 E-One/Ford telesqurt was a surprise. I expected to see a nice size ladder for such a large town, but this covers the city for their ladder needs.

Rescue is covered by Unit 7, a 1996 International 4700. This is a former ambulance from Florida before becoming a very active piece of equipment with the Rawlins (WY) FD.

If anyone with the Riverton VFD reads this please contact me. I lost my information on your apparatus. This is a Sutphen ladder.

One of the several brush truck of the Riverton VFD working a fire in Arapaho, WY. The bruch truck circles the fire as the crew sprays water on the scene.

A beautiful antique belonging to the Riverton VFD.

An interesting rescue for the state. Riverton's rescue is sharp looking.

I sure could use some info on this equipment. Nice tanker run by the Riverton VFD.

Shoshoni, WY is located at a major crossroads in Wyoming. This is their first out structure pumper, a 1984 GMC pumper.
(Click on image for full size view)

This 1993 Chevy crewcab rescue rolls to the majority of calls since the majority of the calls are auto accidents which are very numerous in this part of the state. The fire chief's employer, Burlington Resources, donated the truck to the Shoshoni VFD. Other apparatus in the department is for wildland fire service.

Newest piece belonging to the Thermopolis VFD in Thermopolis, WY. Nice addition to the fleet, but what happen to the silver top?
(Click on image for full size view.)

A short wheelbase 1989 International pumper is Unit 1 of the Thermopolis FD Pump controls are in the compartment behind the cab.
(Click on image for full size view)

Newest apparatus of the Thermopolis FD is this 2003 American LaFrance custom cab. Members of the Casper FD told me they liked the paint scheme so much they are considering painting their engines the same, silver over red.

Rescue 5 is a 1995 Freightliner of the Thermopolis FD.
(Click on image for full size view)

A 50' telesqurt is seen here on this 1980 E-One/Ford. Unit 3 is in excellent condition and would look sharp in the silver/red scheme.
(Click on image for full size view)

A home built "quick attack" sort of midi-pumper/brush/light rescue truck all rolled into one. This truck was built by the Thermopolis FD.
(Click on image for full size view)

Just north of Thermopolis is the city of Worland. Rescue 2 is their 2000 Pierce/KW rescue.
(Click on image for full size view)

Newest truck with the Worland (WY) FD is Engine 9, a 2004 Pierce/KW pumper. Note the light tower over the rear section of the cab.

Casper International Airport is served by this 1997 E-One Titan crash truck. Nice contrast with the snow clouds for a background.
(Click on image for full size view.)

The structure truck for the airport in Casper is this 1978 E-One/GMC.
