Station 77 - Herbert Wallace VFD

Herbert Wallace VFD is the former WKB VFD and is located in Avondale, LA. Avondale VFC and Live Oak Manor VFD provide mutual aid with Wallace. Herbert Wallace area is in the 7th District and primarily consists of residential areas bordered by the Union Pacific RR tracks to the north, woods to the west, woods and the Avondale community to the east, and Lake Salvadore to the south.

Soon to be gone is Engine 778, a 1985 Pierce/Ford pumper. This truck has been replaced with a 2004 Pierce/Freightliner pumper on a high chassie. Color, yellow of course. Is there any other color for a fire truck?

I finally got a shot of the "new" 2004 Pierce/Freightliner pumper for Herbert Wallace VFD.

This 1996 Ferrara/FL pumper is the newest piece of fire equipment operated by the WKB (Washington, Kennedy, Brady) Volunteer Fire Company in Avondale, LA. Their motto is "We Fight What Other Fear" and the mascot for this engine is "Taz", the Tazmanian Devil from Warner Brothers. Recently the fire department was reorginized and is now the Herbert Wallace Fire Department.

Classified as a rescue, R-769 also has a deck gun mounted topside. It looks a lot like the mini-pumper operated by Avondale VFC located down the highway from them.
