The Hanging Tree

Down a little dirt road behind Fisher, Louisiana stands the Hanging Tree. The Hanging Tree however is not what it sounds like though. It is a longleaf pine that was cut and lodged into another tree. Old timers in the area recall that the tree was cut in April or May of 1918. They say two men cut the tree, one of which may have been a Mr. Riles. At the time they were cutting for Louisiana Long Leaf Lumber Company or the 4-L Company in Fisher. When the tree became lodged into the other tree they had no way to get it out so they left it as it was. The trees grew together and for almost eighty years one tree has been giving life to another.
