Louisiana Tech loads up on defensive players in 2007:
New head coach Derek Dooley and staff signed several outstanding defensive backs and linemen in this class.

Phillip Livas 5-8, 170, RB Houma, La. (S. Terrebonne HS). Rushed for 1936 yards in 2006 and 25 rushing touchdowns and caught for 256 yards and six touchdowns… District 6-5A Offensive MVP and all-Regional MPV as a junior and senior… First team all-state as a senior at running back and as a junior at kick returner… Named all-district all-four years (four times as kick returner and three times as running back)… Ranked as the 33rd best player in Louisiana by Rivals.com… 4X100-meter relay team district and regional champs his junior year.

Allen Gilbert 5-9, 195, RB Dallas, Texas (Skyline HS). All-District 11-5A as a senior… Rushed for 936 yards and 10 scores… Competed in the 100- and 200-meters and was a member of the 4X100 and 4X200 relay teams.

Roosevelt Falls 6-1, 220, FB/LB Atlanta, Texas (Atlanta HS). Led Atlanta to the Texas Class 3A state championship in 2003… First team all-district at linebacker and second team all-district running back as a senior … Ranked as the 38th best inside linebacker in the country by Rivals.com … Rushed for 963 yards and 25 touchdowns as a senior and registered 4 sacks.

Joe Anderson, 6-1, 195, WR Texarkana, Texas (Texas HS). Led team to a perfect 10-0 regular season mark… Caught 55 passes for 1,009 yards and 11 scores as a senior… First player in Texas High history to surpass the 1,000 yard receiving mark in a season… 4A all-state team.

Jasmine Dalton 6-3, 205, WR Independence, La. (Independence HS). Won District 9-3A title and the Louisiana Class 3A state championship game … First team all-district three straight years … First team all-state as a junior and senior … As a senior caught 45 passes for 832 yards and 11 TDs and rushed for 3 TDs.

Gabriel Bryant 6-2, 200, WR Jonesboro, La. (Desire Street Academy). District 10-1A champions… In only six games caught 25 passes for 470 yards and eight touchdowns… As a junior caught 54 passes for 1,154 yards and 21 touchdowns… First team all-state and conference offensive MVP.

Jared Miles 6-3, 320, OL Harvey, La. (Helen Cox HS). First team all-District 8-4A as a junior and senior… All-West Bank as a junior… Miles won the district T&F title in the shot put as a junior.

Jon LeBlanc 6-3, 285, OL Denham Springs, La. (Denham Springs HS). Played OL and DL… First team all-District 3-5A and first team all-metro as a senior OL… Also academic all-state honorable mention.

Josh Victorian 5-10, 180, CB St. Rose, La. (Destrehan HS). Helped lead Destrehan to the state Class 5A playoffs his final three years… All-District 5-5A three straight years… First team all-metro by the Times Picayune as a senior… Recorded 14 interceptions over his final two years… Returned three punts for scores as a senior.

Terry Carter 5-10, 170, CB West Monroe, La. (West Monroe HS). Won three straight District 1-5A titles and the Louisiana Class 5A state title in 2005… Registered 58 tackles, nine pass break-ups and four interceptions as a senior… First team all-state… Helped lead team to the Louisiana Class 5A state title in track in 2006, the first ever by the school… Member of the 4X200 state championship team in 2006… Finished second in state in the 200-meters in 2005.

Stevon Howze 5-10, 180, CB Wiggins, Miss. (Mississippi Gulf Coast CC). MGCC won the 2005 South State title and was runner-up in the MJC state title game… His father Stevon Moore had a nine-year NFL career with Miami, Cleveland and Baltimore.

Tarence Calais 5-11, 185, S Patterson, La. (Patterson HS). First team all-district and all-parish as a freshman at safety… First team all-district and the District 7-3A defensive MVP as a junior… District 7-3A offensive MVP as a senior… First team all-state as a junior and senior… Blue Chip All-American list… 33rd best player in Louisiana per Rivals.com and the second best safety in the state … Registered 163 tackles, 17 TFL and nine forced fumbles as a safety as a junior … Rushed for 1,150 yards and 10 scores and passed for over 1,600 yards at quarterback as a senior.

Dominique Faust 5-11, 190, S Athens, Ga. (Clarke Central HS). All-Region 8-4A as a senior … Defensive player of the year… Led team with 131 tackles, including 91 solo stops, seven TFLs and three PBUs … Returned two kickoffs, including one 86 yards for a score.

Adrian Linwood 6-1, 215, S Garland, Texas (North Garland HS). Played QB. Second team All-District 10-5A as a senior… Passed for 700 yards and six touchdowns as a senior and rushed for over 300 yards and four scores.

Jay Dudley 6-4, 210, LB/TE Shreveport, La. (Northwood HS). Started all four years at linebacker and wide receiver… All-district three straight years at linebacker and all-district at wide receiver as a senior… Caught 29 passes for 600 yards and five touchdowns as a senior while also recording 138 tackles, 16 TFLs and three sacks.

Dusty Rust 6-3, 210, LB Shreveport, La. (Captain Shreve HS). Led team to the 2005 District 1-4A title and runner-up finish in 2006 … Registered 145 tackles his senior year, including 54 solo stops as well as three fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles and four pass break-ups… All-district and all-city as a junior and senior… His aunt Rita Rust was a member of two Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters National Championship teams.

Kiamni Washington 6-2, 215, LB Gibson, La. (HL Bourgeois HS). All-District 6-5A and all-Region as a senior… Second team all-district as a junior.

Jared Barron 6-3, 230, DE Shreveport, La. (Evangel Christian Academy). Team won state titles in 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006… All-State as a senior… All-district as a junior and senior… Won the Louisiana AAU Select state wrestling title.

Matt Broha 6-4, 215, DE Baton Rouge, La. (Catholic HS). District 3-5A title as a junior and senior and state playoffs both years… First team all-district and all-metro (Baton Rouge) as a senior… Ranked as Louisiana’a 35th best player by Rivals.com… Registered 64 tackles, 24 TFL, 10 pass break-ups and one INT return for a touchdown as a senior.

Mason Hitt 6-2, 255, DE Baton Rouge, La. (Parkview Baptist HS). Led team to the District 8-3A title and the state semifinals in 2004… First team all-state as a senior… His grandfather Richard Pullig started the Department of Medical Technology at Louisiana Tech in the 1940s.

Kris Cavitt 6-3, 285, DT Mansfield, Texas (Mansfield Summit HS). Led Mansfield Summit to the state playoffs in 2006… All-District 4-5A.
