JF Software's Helio section

I currently have four programs available and one document collection available:

HelioList 0.6.1

Quote from the help file:

HelioList organizes all of your confusing DOS programs, and makes it simpler to issue
command-line parameters. If you don't understand DOS, then ignore that second point.
Each DOS program is configured in a "macro". When you want to run that DOS program,
access its macro, fill out the necessary fields, and execute it!

I wrote this program with Visual Basic 6.0 (SP4). I haven't released the source code yet, but I'll consider it.
This program is still in testing stages, so if anything screws up, don't blame me.

Notice: Version 0.6.1 is a bug fix for anyone running 0.6 on Windows 98 or higher!

Note: Starting with 0.6.1, I will release two versions of the setup program. The FULL install will install HelioList, the Visual Basic 6.0 runtimes, and a few other DLLs. Download the FULL install if you've never used HelioList before. The MINIMUM install will only install HelioList. Download the MINIMUM install if you've used HelioList before or you are dead sure that you have STDOLE2.TLB, OLEPRO32.DLL, OLEAUT32.DLL, MSVBVM60.DLL, COMCAT.DLL, and ASYCFILT.DLL in your Windows/System directory. (If you've used HelioList before, don't worry: you have those files). As always, remember to uninstall your previous version before installing a new one.

Eventually, I will make a walk-through for creating macros and editing macros.

HDO2HDB 1.0

Quote from the help file:

HDO2HDB renames any HDO files in its directory to HDB. This is VERY useful
when you do a hard reset (pushing the Power and Reset buttons on your Helio
and deleting all data). When you re-sync your Helio, VSync will rename all of
your applications from APO to APP, but it won't touch your HDO's. Rather than
using Windows Explorer to click each one and rename it, you could run this
     program.

I wrote this program with QuickBASIC 4.0. I could have used a more "civilized" language, but this was a quick make and I didn't feel like playing with C. I have the source code included in the ZIP file.

HelioExplorer 0.5

Quote from the help file:

Annoyed by how VSync shortens the file names of all of your APPs and HDBs? Well,
here's a workaround: browse through your files by their Helio names. HelioExplorer
lets you do that. It shows apps and dbs, and also previews the icons of the apps!

I wrote this program with Visual Basic 6.0 (SP4). I won't release the source code, but I am releasing a module with functions for manipulating APPs and HDBs. The file, heliodb.bas, is included in this package and is also listed separately below.

Note: With this program, I am releasing two versions of the setup program. The FULL install will install HelioExplorer, the file types, the database management DLLs, the Visual Basic 6.0 runtimes, the Common Controls OCX, and a few other DLLs. Download the FULL install if you've never used HelioExplorer before. The MINIMUM install will only install HelioExplorer, the file types, and the database management DLLs. Download the MINIMUM install if you've used HelioExplorer before.
Unfortunately, I had to revert to the old system for this update. Therefore, the download is kinda large. This is due to the fact that I added some important DLLs to this program, and I felt insecure about my newer system. Therefore, you MUST uninstall your old version before installing the MINIMUM install.

NOTE: HelioExplorer downloads have been disabled while I upgrade to a new setup system!

HelioGrabber 1.0

Quote from the help file:

HelioGrabber 1.0 is a Windows GUI interface for creating specialized DOS batch
files. These batch files download specified webpages, strips and formats them for
the VTech Helio, and places them in the correct folder for immediate download. This
program is comparable to WebYoinker and other programs, but is simpler.

I wrote this program with Visual Basic 6.0 (SP5). Also, this program uses a few third-party applications, whose copyrights are listed below (they can also be found in the About screen in the program or in the README document):

Note: As I did with HelioExplorer, I am releasing two versions of the setup program for this program. The FULL install will install HelioGrabber, the third-party applications, the Visual Basic 6.0 runtimes, the Common Controls OCX, my JFLink OCX, and a few other DLLs. Download the FULL install if you've never used my other program HelioExplorer before. The MINIMUM install will only install HelioGrabber, the third-party applications, and my JFLink OCX. Download the MINIMUM install if you've used HelioExplorer before (it installs all of the other files).

D3D Level Editing document collection

Quote from the help file:

This is a package of level editing documents for Duke Nukem 3D. Note that I
didn't write these, I merely formatted and converted them for ZHDB (TextView).
I also took advantage of TextView's ability to read TOC files.

BuildGde, BuildKey, BuildMap, SectEfct, and SpclSprt are all included in the
Duke Nukem 3D game CD, in the goodies/build folder with the Build program.

MapFAQ, SndNum, and SndType are all written by Jonah Bishop, and can be found
at http://mapfaq.3dportal.com, along with the tutorial maps.
