Chaucer
Geoffrey Chaucer was the greatest English poet before Shakespeare. Chaucer was the most prominent writer of literature during the Middle English Period at a time called the Period of Great Individual Writers (1350-1400). He wrote the Canterbury Tales, which are a set of stories told by a group of pilgrims on their way to the Canterbury Cathedral.
