SABR History

The St. Andrew Society of Baton Rouge (SABR) was founded by several gentlemen in Baton Rouge in 1997.

Many of the first members were members of the St. Andrew Society of Louisiana which was founded in 1807 in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was believed that a similar society could be organized in Baton Rouge.

The formation committee met on October 27, 1997 at Giamanco's Restaurant. The Acting presiding officer was the Rev.Dr. Lonnie Sibley. Those in attendance included Robert Allen, Wallace Armstrong, Joe Campbell, Don McGregor, Miller D.M.F. Dial, Monte Moncrieffe, Tom Murray, Archie Shaw, Martin Schreiber, and George Williams.

The By-Laws of the St. Andrew Society of Baton Rouge were adopted on January 26, 1998. The Society was Incorporated on February 28, 2001.
