Mom & Dad, Zip & Eunice Guidry

This picture of my Mom and Dad were taken for my nephew's wedding, back in 1987. I love this picture. It's the way I remember Mom before she got so sick. Dad is still alive and well.

Mom and Dad both loved to cook. Here Dad was making a special Cajun dish for my cousin in law and some of his friends. It isn't the classic Shrimp Etouffee', but this is what we called it. And Mom was checking the progress, so I called them to turn around and snapped.

My Mom probably about 5 to 8 years before she died. The table she is
sitting at is the same table that she grew up eating at, and raised her own
family. It was hand made by my grandfather in about 1900. It now sits on
the screened in patio and we still use it when Dad comes to spend the weekend
at his house once a month. Mom got a new table in the 70s and this one went out.

Here is a school picture of my Dad when he was 13. This was probably in the Fall of 1931. His Mom died when he was only a few weeks short of his 5th birthday, and his sister raised him.
