Ben Folds Five - Whatever and Ever Amen
The band Ben Folds Five was formed in 1993 by
Ben Folds (vocals, piano), Darren Jessee (drums)
and Robert Sledge (bass).
Using a baby grand piano as the source of the trio's
rhythms instead of a standard guitar, Ben Folds Five
has carved a unique niche in the alternative-rock scene.

Their View
To the success of their single "Brick" on the album,
they feel as if the praise for their work is now
justified. "It's kinda like, 'Oh, well, that's
good, 'cause we've been acting like we've had a
hit for a long time, so we might as well have one,'"
Folds says. |
My View
The background music's great. The discordiant piano playing
is refreshing, and the drums and bass are strong.
The lyrics are also good. However, Ben Folds's
singing is awful. He often sings too high for his own
good. Dispite this, this album comes across as an
expressive album, worthy of praise.
