In 1992, two local musicians who were tired of their local music scene teamed up with one vision...create a melodic, heavy rockin' band that would perform with energetic performances. The two founding members, Daniel McDonald and Paul Ferris, would soon recruit the talents of guitarist Mark Meisner and vocalist Avery Allen. Lawless soon began working on original material and by drawing on influences such as Boston, Kiss, and a myriad of 70's and 80's bands they forged a very viable sound. In 1994, Lawless fell on hard times as drummer Ferris left to join the U.S. Army and the band worked on his replacement. After many replacements a drummer named John Gillman entered to take over the drumming position. Gillman came into the first audition knowing all of the Lawless material as if he had wrote it himself. His taste and timing would continue to help define the Lawless sound.

After hearing the new incarnation of Lawless the band decided that something was missing and at John's request they added a second guitarist. John Newbern entered the band with all of the musical talent and energy the band had been lacking. Newbern's taste for heavy metal/punk made him a purist of the just plug in play school of rock. Newbern added two new Lawless originals in the classics "Shaded Love" and "Fifteen". The new added energy of the band was electrifying and everything could only go up.

During the summer of 1994, vocalist Avery Allen left to pursue his musical career with other area bands. Allen cited musical differences as the a key problem in the Lawless chemistry. Allen was soon replaced by Louisiana vocalist, David Price. Even though they replaced Allen the good times were hard to find and in 1995 the band broke up.

In 1997, drummer John Gillman approached guitarist Mark Meisner about reuniting and possibly recording the Lawless material. After dismal attempts to create quality music with his current band Meridian; Mark agreed. John also recruited, his friend of 20+ years John Newbern as a guitarist. Avery came back to the fold and the magic has returned for the band. Currently the band is working on their first CD and their only goal is to have fun. Who knows LAWLESS may be on it's way to your nearest CD outlet?
