The University of New Orleans was established in 1958 as part of the Louisiana State University System. The mission of the system was to bring public supported higher education to Louisiana'a largest urban community. UNO has an amazing 195 acre campus that is located along side of Lake Ponchatrain. The French Quarter and the Business District are only minutes away from this homey campus. The location also makes for easy access to the Aquarium of the Americas, City Park, The Audubon Zoo and Park, and the historic homes that line the New Orleans area. The students of UNO come from 48 states and over 80 countries world wide. Nearly 70% of the student body recieves financial aid. In order to be considered for financial aid students have to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Students are awarded aid on a first come, first-served basis. More than 500 scholarships are awarded each year to various students. Click here! UNO also offers a child care service. The UNO Children's Center provides quality and affordable child care for the children of students while on campus. UNO has six colleges offering a wide variety of studies in business admistration, engineering, liberal arts, education, sciences, and urban and public affairs.
