LSU, Louisiana State University, was founded by the Louisiana General Assembly in 1853 with the instituion planning to open its doors January 2, 1860 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A state funded school, LSU takes in about 16 percent of the total enrollment of public higher level education in Louisiana, more than any other school. The student body is comprised of over 30,000 from all 50 states and over 120 countries. The average age of undergraduate students is 22, and the men to women ratio at LSU is about the same. The desire for excellence is a virtue that most LSU students posess and cherish. The disposition of LSU's students is something that makes this state funded college one of a kind. A friendly attitude and determination to be the best are two things that make this scene possible and common at LSU.

Memorial Tower

This is Memorial Tower, also known as the Campanile The tower was built in 1923 and was dedicated, in 1926, to the Louisianians who died in WWI. There are bronze plaques located in the memorial that are inscribed with the names of the Lousianians' lives that were lost during the war.
