This is a new line-up VICE SQUAD, apart from singer BEKI who sang the now legendary `Last Rockers`,`Resurrection`,`Out of reach``Stand strong,stand proud` and `State of the nation` E.Ps. She also sang and co-wrote the EMI albums `No cause for concern` and `Stand strong,stand proud`.Both albums entered the U.K national music charts.
BEKI has featured three times on the front cover of U.K music paper `Sounds`.Other cover features include `Melody maker`,`Record mirror` and `Musicians weekly` aswell as features in `NME` ,`Number 1` ,`Kicks` and `Smash hits` and two front covers of `Punk lives`.She was voted `punk prime minister` by readers of
`Punk lives` and number one sex symbol by readers of `Sounds`!!!!
She is the only original member of Vice Squad to have continued playing live,recording and writing songs.
In April and May of 1999, the band played a successful European tour visiting HOLLAND,GERMANY,AUSTRIA,SLOVENIA,ITALY,SWITZERLAND and SPAIN.They also played the U.K punk festival `HOLIDAYS IN THE SUN` alongside Sham 69,The Damned,Anti-Nowhere League,One Way System and UK Subs and US bands Murphy`s law,Anti heroes and Dropkick Murphies.
In July and August 1999 VICE SQUAD toured the USA as part of the SOCIAL CHAOS tour, playing alongside fourteen other bands.US and Canadian audiences loved the re-vamped Vice Squad so much that they returned to North America in April,May and June 2000.
The band played in over 20 US states and Canada too!! 11,500 miles in
six weeks.......sell-out shows in California,including the Whisky a go-go,and a packed out CBGB`s in New York city made this a tour to remember. Kids as young as fourteen and old school punks came out in droves to see the band perform classic songs alongside new material from 1999 albums `GET A LIFE`and`RESURRECTION`.
In April 2000 the band released their e.p `LAVENDER HILL MOB` on cd and vinyl formats on French label `COMBAT ROCK`. A new album on Canadian label SUDDEN DEATH/MUCK entitled LO FI LIFE was released in the USA and Canada in July 2000 and is now getting airplay in the USA.The album includes 11 new tracks
`we came,we saw``someone else` `superficial people``fresh air` `lo fi life``street cred``where are they all now?``he said she said` `u- r-a robot``submerge` and `back in the cage` as well as new versions of old classics `last rockers` and `stand strong`.This album is now available.
VICE SQUAD also has a track on a METALLICA tribute album and a NIRVANA tribute album out on Cleopatra records.
BEKI has just released a solo album on UK label `Disoriente`, and is working on her second solo album to be released this spring, hopefully.
