Practical NursingLength: 18 Months
The Practical Nursing program consists of 18 months or 5 quarters which include both classroom instruction and supervised clinical activities in accredited hospitals, nursing homes, and other health care agencies. The program content has been developed utilizing the nursing process and incorporating the concepts of holistic nursing, hierarchy needs, stress and adaptation, creative problem-solving, and psychosocial development. The program is approved by the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners and the Lousisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education. Upon graduation, the student is awarded a Diploma from the Technical College and is eligible to take the licensure examination administered by the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners.

Applicants for admission must:
1. Be at least sixteen years of age.
2. Have obtained acceptable high school certification (where applicable).
3. Make acceptable scores on the entrance examination.
4. Be able to benefit from training.
