Cosmetology
Length: 14 Months
The purpose of the Cosmetology course is to prepare students for employment in positions of cosmetologists and hair stylists. Classroom instruction includes the study of anatomy and physiology, sanitation, shampooing, hair coloring, shaping and styling, permanent waving, facials, the application of cosmetic make-up, and salon management. The required practical skills are developed through experience in a well-equipped, on-site salon under the supervision of the instructor. The curriculum meets the State Cosmetology Board requirement and has been approved by the Louisiana State board of Cosmetology. Students will have satisfied cosmetologist requirements when 1500 course hours have been completed and they have taken the Lousiana State Board of Cosmetology licensure examination.

HOW TO APPLY: Report to or call the counselor in Student Personnel Services at (504) 942-8333 for admission and to obtain an appointment for testing guidance.
Applicants for admission must:
1. Be at least sixteen years of age.
2. Have obtained acceptable high school certification (where applicable).
3. Make acceptable scores on the entrance examination.
4. Be able to benefit from training.
