"Taylor..." Zoey said, rolling her eyes. "You always seem to show up when I want to see you the
least."
Taylor stepped forward. "Zoey...you look...you look... amazing," he complimented.
Zoey looked away. "I look amazing? Yeah, right, Taylor. I'm standing on a dirt road, soaking
wet, feezing cold, and I look amazing? Nice try Taylor."
"Zoey, I'm serious. I mean... Tonight...I saw you in a whole different light. You were like a new
Zoey Fielding."
"Yeah, new and improved. Taylor, why can't you just accept me for who I am?"
"What?" Taylor asked, hurt. "Zoey, for the past month, you have been my world! I always
wanted to be with you, and you know why? Becasue your my best friend! I love the way you are,
all by youself."
Zoey smirked. "Yeah sure. Just a minute ago, you told me I looked amazing. You never said
anything like that when I was the same Zoey Fielding I was this afternoon. Pretty, yeah, but you
know, being compared to as 'trash' tonight just about lowered all possibilties for me to look
amazing, so just leave me alone, please?"
"I can't Zoey. Your my best friend, and I'm not going to leave you alone, and if you push me
away, I'm going to keep coming back."
"Why, Taylor? Why did one night change your whole out look on me? What is so different
about me? I'm just wearing a dress...makeup...so my hair is curly, so what!" Zoey yelled, as the
rain drops came down hard. "I'm still the same Zoey that I was and I always will be. I won't be
dressing up everyday just because it lookes 'better'! Tomorrow, I'll be back to the same person I
always have been."
"I know Zoey, and that's the way I want it! I don't want you to change anything about you!"
Zoey sat down on the bench once again, letting everything soak in. "Taylor, you are so hard to
figure out!" Zoey said. She would have died to hear him say this a month ago, so why was she
pushing him away?
Taylor sat down beside her.
"Taylor, go away!"
"No, Zoey, I won't!"
"Why not?!" Zoey cried.
"Because, I love you Zoey!"
Zoey sat there, shocked. She stared at Taylor, her mouth forming an "O". "T-Taylor? Why
didn't you tell me this before?"
"Because...I was afraid that you'd think I was an idiot."
Zoey smiled, her heard pounding. "You? An idiot? Never..."
Taylor leaned forward and kissed her softly. Zoey's mind went blank as she put her arms around
his neck. It was perfect, and she couldn't imagine her first kiss with Taylor any more perfect -
kissing in the rain.
