Chapter Thirteen

"It's so pretty! It's white, and it comes with a nice see through coverup, and it'll look sooo nice when the lighs are shining on me," she said to Melanie that night. She had gotten so caught up in buying the dress that she had forgotten to meet Melanie in the store that she suggested.

"Sounds nice, Zoey! Can't wait to see you win first place!"

"I doubt it..." Zoey said doubtfully.

"Oh, don't keep putting yourself down, Zoey, you're a definate winner! Your soooo pretty if you'd just show it sometimes! You always hide underneath your boy-clothes."

"They are not boy clothes!" Zoey tried to protest.

"Come on Zoey, you wear nike everything!"

"Girls can wear nike clothes too, you know, it's not specially designed for just guys!"

"Yeah, well, it looks boyish. And you always wear that hat backwards! If your gonna wear a hat, wear it frontwards, but it's better to not wear one at all!"

"Melanie, I can dress myself! I don't need any fashion advice from you."

"Apparently you do, Zoey, your a complete tom-boy!"

"I am not!"

"Zoey!"

"What?!"

"Don't argue with me, I have fashion sence, and you don't! Lets leave it at that!"

"No! Fine, I'll prove you wrong, I'll go out, and I'll buy something 'girly', and I'll wear it to school on Monday!"

Melanie laughed. "You! Girly? I don't think so!"

Zoey scoffed. "Melanie, stop it...," she said sadly. "Your making me feel worse."

Melanie sighed. "Sorry, Zoey, I didn't mean it."

Zoey sighed too. "Yes...you did...and it's the truth. I need to change my style...fast."
