'Why in the world would Jason act like that?' Briten thought to herself as she walked home from
school. 'It was like he was trying to find a reason to get away from me. It can't be because of my
cancer, Jason's not like that...' Briten mused at all the possible reasons Jason would act like he
did.
Sighing, she dropped her bookbag on the grass and took her jacket off, sheilding her eyes from
the sun. She stuffed her jacket into her bookbag, and started walking again. Her steps slowed
down as she panted for air. 'The medicine must be slowing me down,' Briten thought out loud.
Gasping, she finally reached her house, and threw open the door. She closed it, and leaned
against it, sliding to the floor as the air conditioning beat down on her. "Ahhh," she said as she
cooled off, the cool air making her feel a little better.
She got up, and began walking up the stairs to her room, when a wave of nausia hit her like a bat
in the stomach. "Oh no," she said as she rushed to bathroom. She waited, but she just felt worse.
After closing her eyes for a long period of time, she slowly walked back to her room, and sat
down on her bed.
She closed her eyes for what seemed like seconds, but when she opened her eyes and glanced at
her alarm clock, she realized it was time for her to start making dinner for her and her father.
She heaved a long sigh before going decending the stairs to the kitchen. She cut up carrots and
out them in a pot full of water, then set it on the burner. Since she was diagnosed with cancer,
she was told to go on a strict diet, with certain vegtables and fruits. On certain days, she could
only have certain meats and milk products, and it was getting on Briten's nerves.
Just as soon as Briten had finished putting everything in the oven, she began to feel hot all over.
She plopped down on a kitchen when she felt light headed. All of a sudden she landed on the
floor hard, a wave of dizzyness taking over her. After several minutes, Briten sat up, and clasped
her overall button back, since it had come un-buckled when she fell. She shook her head as her
sight cleared. Briten sighed, and leaned back against the wall. One thing was for sure - Briten
wasn't going to use the monitor for a day longer than she had to.
