RANT #2 - WE ARE THE SAILOR SENSHI TOO!
My last rant got lots of attention from flamers. So this rant is about that....
First, it's an apology. Not only to those who were offended by reading it, but to those who are members of Group #1 or Group #2... I'm sorry. It was *NOT* meant to offend any of you. Some members of Group 2 are friends of mine. I was merely pointing out a few things that got lost in all the frustration I was venting:
#1 - Fans of BSSM have been around as long as the manga/anime in Japan. Just because you and your friends have recently gotten into it does *NOT* make you bigger or better fans than those who came before, and vice versa. If you take it too far, you are bound to drive some fans crazy.
#2 - If you play the "We are the Senshi/Scouts" game, fine. But don't drag people into it when they don't want to be involved (ie, naming everyone you've ever met a character). This is will drive your not-so-Moonie friends nuts as well as other fans of the series. Group #1 refers to me as "Sailor Cosmos". I am *NOT* anything like her and since they know nothing but the Dub, I'm almost offended by it. The ones I relate to most are Jupiter, Pluto, Mars, and Galaxia (but not Chibichibi or Cosmos).
#3 - Don't take the game too far. YOU ARE NOT A SAILOR SCOUT/SENSHI! I am not Lina Inverse. I joke about being Lina all the time, cause I love her and relate to her, but I don't expect to be called Lina by all my friends. Fans of BSSM who don't play your game will get annoyed when you refer to someone as "Venus" or "Makoto-chan" (who is generally called "Mako-chan," by the way) especially when these names are pronounced incorrectly.
#4 - Realize that some fans ARE NOT copying you just because they get a similiar BSSM/NA SM item, such as a picture, keychain, movie, etc. Just because you got it first doesn't mean the other person got the idea from you, because most likely they didn't. There's only a certain number of pictures and a limited list of available merchandise for Sailor Moon in any form. It's bound to happen.
#5 - Respect the characters and the fact that other fans have a lot of respect for them as well. They may not agree that you are "Sailor Mercury" and would appreciate it if you would come back to reality once and a while.
Anyhow, I *am* sorry. I had to get it off my chest. My next rant will be about something different, I swear. But don't bother to flame me if you disagree. Write a letter and tell me that you disagree, that I'm being "insane" and "weird" if you'd like. That's fine.
