Similarities to his son....?
Heh heh... he called you kid. Most people know Saishu as the suave... the swift... the cheap @$$ sub-boss from '95 who could use cheap fire-ball uppercut patterns. Yet he had potential to be slick, for I didn't take a hating to him, even though he was as cheap as all get out. Now back in '98, Saishu is a bit more relaxed, (maybe to much, nnn....) and has come to teach the young punks a thing or two about a thing or two (Takuma-style).
Saishu was one of the characters who was not only middle aged in '95, but was nixed in '96 and didn't return until '98 on the team know as the mid-aged team, the old team, a lot of stuff. But their official name is the master team. Yes, we all recognize Saishu's last name, the same as Kyo's (or to be correct, Kyo's is the same as his). Saishu had entered the KoF '95 under the brainwashing control of Rugal (in which he was more stoic and his voice was more... just more. Now it's all raspy and still neat). Now he returns with a team who's all got desciples in the KOF, and even though his is one of the best, Saishu still thinks he can teach Kyo a thing or two about a thing or two. A team of masters cannot lose (what is it that people have against this team anyway).
Like Takuma and even Terry, Saishu constantly wanders around the world. But Terry's only responsibilities are fighting, drinking, hanging out, and occasionally getting harassed by the cops, whereas Saishu's got a wife, Shizu(ka?)(ku?) and a kid (kids?). He's officially left the Kusanagi business with his wife to wander and train. My interpretation? Well, like Iori, Ior i's father had been mercilessly seeking out Saishu, who wanted no part of the fued (and wants the same for his son) so Saishu was gone trying to keep his family away from the fued and things of it's nature by staying away, or was he running trying to wear down the Yagami's short lifespan, which he did. He had avoided the traitional duel to the death with Yagami Sr. he was destinmed to fight (after graciously having a child beforehand so he can deal with it also). Strangely, he never stayed put at home.
Saishu was lucky that Shizu accepted him even though she knew of his obligations etc. Saishu trained his child, Kyo, to no end, and left him on his own to continue when Kyo was kicking his butt at age 15. Saishu now knew it was time to leave and let Kyo deal with his fate (probably a sore loser). A do-gooder, Takuma style, Saishu feels like he must trounce evil whereever it lurks, but ulike Guiy from SFA who can do it REAL slick like and not get messed up, Saishu kinda gets into a pickle, like all do gooder SNK people.
You see, Saishu gets into the deals with the underworld black market type thing and notices a corrupt Rugal who needs to be dealt with. He somehow gets onto Rugal's Blacknoah (doesn't that thing fly?) and challenges Rugal, who is a poser and uses Geese and Wolfgang tech to win. Who knows, had Kyo not have seen his father lying on the ground all conked on and stuff, he might not have taken out Rugal with all his rage (Kyo grow stronger wit da rage). Rugal blew up his ship like a sore loser, and Saishu was thought to have been dead, and would have been but he gets lucky and Rugal has Vice and Mature brainwash him to be evil and to work for him. (This long tedious process is what establishes Vice's hatred for Saishu, whereas Mature's having a jolly good time).
So '95, Saishu gets an official battle with ol' Kyo, who wins, and Saishu tells him to "go on and "more battles await" and "the best fighters are the smart ones" and "beauty is only skin deep," that type of thing. You get the picture. Saishu is glad Kyo has surpassed him (even though he tells Kyo that it was because of the brainwashing probably). And Saishu is gone again, and Shizu is probaly on her own (I think Kyo still lives with his mom, the slacker). Saishu resurfaces in good ol' '98 for some ol' fashioned salad dressing style butt kicking.
'95 got Saishu a butt'kicking, because he was part of Rugal's plan. Therefore, he was destined to fail. In '98 hough, he will teach them... Saishu's pride now rests with his son, who's kinda beaten it out of him. Yes Kyo has made his father proud. The only thing he hasn't done better is avoided his Yagami rival, for Kyo seems to have constant run-ins. with Iori. Goro is an old friend of Saishu and so was kind of a baby sitter of Kyo, so Saishu is happy to see that Kyo is hangin' with Goro. The whole master team goes back a ways. Both Takuma and Saishu had heard of the fabled Heidern, and Saishu and Takuma were old chums (which explains their similar personalities, but not so similar is the way they train their desciples, Saishu's more loving way and Takuma's sternness, to Ryo's dismay). You might think that Saishu is kinda out to get a little revenge on Rugal, but that's undetermined. Maybe Vice can take the spot of Iori's father as Saishu's new rival. Maybe Vice will train me a little bit... Now I want more info of characters history, past their fathers. Direct info, not vague and indirect stuff. Come on SNK, what can you do.
The tips for playing Saishu in the new '98 cannot be stated, for, as of this time, I have not played '98 yet. I can however say that in '95, Saishu's little hopping fire punch sometimes cannnot be blocked low. Against the computer (only) use the cheap fireball uppercut pattern. It's not right to use it against human oponents, it's just not right. You can sometimes walk in and combo after a slow fireball (or should I say wave). Heck, sometimes you can even combo a slow and then fast firewave thingy thing type thing. Hmmmm....
