Why do I think she's real neat all of a sudden...
Actually the rebound has nothing to do with Lucky G. It's a comment on how Art Of Fighting Three was a flop, so they put her in KOF '96 to kinda redeem it and make people want to play it (it being AOF 3). Hey, if a flop means you get a cool character like this, then hey... That would be cool if she did have something to do with Lucky Glauber.
Actually Kasumi is neat. She's entered the KOF to kinda get revenge on ol' Ryo Sakazaki for putting the big smite-dog on her father, whom we know as Ryuhaku Todo from Art of Figting 1. So hence her being on Eiji's team in my mind. Unfortunetaly, she is a lost cause now, kinda wandering around looking for her father. All she has to do is scan the whole freakin' world, he won't move anywhere. I say she should enter a KOF again and have HIM find HER. Tis prideful young woman STILL has her snipers set on ol' Ryo, who still has no idea what's going on. I have to thank King for getting her to enter. You see, if I remember correctly, Kaumi went into King's bar and asked for something hard or somthing like that. King said she couldn't sell to her. I hear one place it's because she's a girl, which doesn't make any sense. Then I hear another that it's because she's too young, which makes sense, si I decipher that King said that she couldn't sell to GIRLS as in women under 21. Ah, realizations. Kasumi was a bit leary until the Ryo guy came up, then it was like "well maybe.... I'll think about it."
Kasumi's way of thinking? Finding out if her might-be companions are good enough. Her way of testing our battle hardened heroines? Jumping Mai in an alley. Luckily the at-first stupified Mai knew what to do. (I, for some reason, picture Kasumi dropping behind Mai and Mai turning around saying "eek, oh sorry I was startled. No thanks, I don't want any..." Mai was good enough (did she have that freakin' Hakuro No Mai? That little 12 hit-er might convince someone.) Well Kasumi is convinced, and thus comes a very zany team, but strangely, the diversity works well. She hasn't found Ryo yet so it's into the KOF '96 (peices fell in place) with Kasumi (yey!!!)
Raised by Todo, Kasumi's got the pride of Joe Higashi, the dedication of Ryo Sakazaki, and the throws and counters of The Big Bopper, I mean Goro. Kinda well rounded ain't she (Ah, I can't wait to play her). The prideful young warrior has a lot of respect and for her style, Aikido, which was a harmless form of combat until some Todo people got ahold of it. Ryuhaku, her father, is almost as proud, but Kasumi's skill leads me to assume that Ryuhaku has no son, and has graciously passed the art onto his daughter (let us have some info on her mither SNK,... she is alive... right?). Of course he might not be too happy if she gets married, that being the end of the Todo line type thing and all.
Mr. Todo was defeated by ol' Ryo in AOF 1, so the Todo Aikido (T.A.) pride was hurt and Kasumi takes it personally (wouldn't you) and decides to redeem her father by defeatinmg Ryo herself. Hmmm.. Mr. Todo, being a man and all... wouldn't that hurt his pride? Being avenged by his 18 year old daughter> Woldn't that make him 35% Dweebenheimer and 65% Weenie King. Anyway, Ryuhaku kinda disappeared and Kasumi now has to find Ryo to maybe find out where her father went off to, (she's in for a big disappointment, as the Ryo, the ol' slug, doesn't wander away from the ol' dojo much). Todo seems to pop up all around KOF, maybe Kasumi should return.
In KOF '96, where peices fell in place, the way I interpret it is that she did find Ryo, but was defeated. This might have knocked something loose (Ryo is knocking things loose all over the place) and now I hear that Kasumi has got a little crush on our golden-haired hero, who's as boring as sin. I hate to bring this up, but according to a magazine or radio drama, Kasumi had got dronk at someplace where Ryo was and she openly went up to him and engaged in a very crazy conversation, Ryo not knowing what was going on. Consequently, don't ask me why, Kasumi started to undress before him. That's all I heard, but I hope she was contained before she got too far, and I hope Ryo's nosebleed was cleaned up nice and good. Funny again, Kasumi is looking for Ryo with King, but King isn't clear on the facts obviously since Mr. Todo is somewhat a regular at her co-owned with Duck King bar....
I can guess that Kasumi knows the Duck King, but I interpret that she would be VERY annoyed with him. Yes, during a section of her journey, she started to often go to King's bar. Mai, King and Yuri think Kasumi is one of the neatest, the way Kasumi tries to act like everything they do just isn't good enough and that she's always discontented (this is gone by the end of '96). King just talks to her and Mai is always dragging her to the bar to drink and go crazy.Mai crazy... Looks like our little Kasumi is starting to fit in more with the outside world (Itadaki Ya!, that just came out, sorry). Kasumi's little crush on Ryo most likely humors Robert while Ryo stands around all boring and stuff not even realizing it. Ryo crazy... Mr. Todo loves his daughter, but hasn't been around lately, and this tears Kasumi up. The way Todo prances around, I don't believe he realizes the impact he has on his daughter. Todo Crazy.... Whew, this was a hard profile to write because of the lack of Kasumi info. Luckily (and crazily) the lack of Kasumi exposure has led to many a shrine to her. Check them out. Yey! (Mou Akaan!, there I go again...)
According to Anime: No, Kasumi hasn't been in any anime I've heard of. But her daddy was. In the zany AOF movie he was a cop! They sure shot him down, and his voice actor was crap, if you're thinkiing of him as Todo. Not only that, but he was nuts! Really! Todo crazy...
Ack! No KOF '96 for me, neither an Art Of Fighting 3 (rhyme, Ha!) So gameplay tips are out... for now.
