Randy and I met in the "HotTub" at Coolchat in late December 1997. We clicked as friends straight away. Randy was, and is, a very easy person to talk to. When we first started talking, it was like we had always known each other. I know that sounds like a tired old cliche, but it is true. I am a believer in that there is someone out there for everyone. I was beginning to think I would never find my someone, then Randy entered my life. I didn't expect to find mine someone I love so deeply half a world away from me, but I am so very happy we did find each other. I have never been happier in my life.
We first talked on the phone in February 1998, and that conversation was 2 hours long. Since then have racked up bigger international phone bills between us than some small countries !! Not to mention we have kept both Australia and Canada Post gainfully employed *l*.
On October 29, I flew to the United States. Randy drove from Calgary, Canada and met me in LA. That first meeting is something neither of us will forget. When we held each other for the first time, it felt perfectly right and I know it is where I was meant to be.
We spent 2 weeks in LA and SF and then 5 weeks in his home city of Calgary. We flew back here to Australia just before Christmas, where we are enjoying spending more time together. We made so many wonderful plans and we made them into reality.
I met his family and he met mine, and survived them (and didn't hold them against me *lol*).
If you read the first page, you will know that we are now engaged to be married. So we have more plans to make and look forward to, the biggest and best of which is creating our life together. It is still undecided where that will be, but as long as we are together, I will be happy.
Randy is now back in Calgary, and I am here in Brisbane making wedding plans. The computer is getting a workout again, and Australia Post will love me again too !!! I can't wait until October when we will be together again. We miss each other very much. It is amazing how quickly you get used to having someone around. We will be together soon though, and I know I don't want us to be apart for this long ever again.
I wanted to create a place, where I could show a little of how I feel about the only man I have ever truly loved. I know some of you are saying that you can't possibly love someone you haven't physically met. I used to think that too, until I met Randy. We spent more time since we met talking, than most "normal" couples do in a year. Our late nights, disturbed sleeping patterns and our phone bills will testify to that. !!
I believe that you can't spend that long getting to know someone from the inside, talking about the important things in life, and not know that this person is the one you truly love. I know I have never felt for anyone, what I feel for him.
Why did I put normal in " " ?? Well, you define normal to me, if you can do that, you are the only person who ever has. Normal is what you make it. We got to know each other so well, better than most couples I think, and we now we are getting to enjoy all the things other couples take for granted, simple things like holding hands, and falling asleep in the same hemishphere *l*. To me, our relationship is richer and stronger for our being physically apart.
