I'm Becky. I'm, well I used to tell my age, but I think I’m getting old enough to just shut up and just say, “well how old do I look? Then that’s how old I am!”. Anyways, I’m a child and family psychotherapist. While, yes, sometimes I sit on the floor and play with toys all day, the other part of the time I have to hear about abuse and neglect, families needing support and help, tears, anger and pain in the span of a one hour session. I love my job even though I often feel like I've been stomped on all over and puked on and run over by a Mac truck because the paperwork (SHHHHHH- It's hiding under my desk) is overwhelming and the disgusting red tape of agency garbage and administration is unethical, immoral and irresponsible. Caring about kids is important, and somewhere, somehow I will make a difference in someone's life. ( HERE COMES THE SAPPY BUT HEARTFELT PLEA NOW…)Please don't ignore problems, with kids or anyone you know, just listening to someone for a second can help, and while agencies might not make a difference, PEOPLE, social workers, sociotherapists, teachers, therapists, doctors, DO make a difference.
