The Chinese have attributed specific personalities to those born under the signs of 12 animals. Legend has it that before Buddha left this world, he held a great feast and invited all the animals of the world. Unfortunately only twelve animals showed, the ox leading the way. The Buddha smiled as the oppurtunistic rat scampered over the ox's back. To reward the animal's loyalty, he names a year after each one in the order of their arrival: rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and the pig.

Year of the Rat

You are noted for your charm, work hard to achieve your goals and are likely to be a driving perfectionist, but easily angered. A thrifty person, but can be generous with someone you love, loves to acquire possessions as well. Usually very sucessful.
Compitable with dragons, monkeys and oxen.
Those born in the year of the rat are predicted to have a properous year. Rats are often happy in sales or as a writer, critic, or publicist
