Kenny Brack started his rookie season in the FedEx Championship Series with a
unique claim to. He is the only rookie in CART history to have already won the
Indy 500. Brack also has another unique claim: He is the only Indy 500 winner
in the series.

Although he has spent the past three seasons racing on the ovals in the IRL --
he won the championship in ’98 -- he is a road racer by training. Go-karts,
Formula Ford, Formula 3, Barber Saab and Formula 3000 are some of the series
in which he’s competed and won.

In ’96 Brack won the European Formula 3000 championship on the
track but had it taken away from him by the officials for "too tough driving."

Now he will run as teammate to Max Papis, driving the Shell Ford/Reynard for
Team Rahal. The Ford/Reynard combination appears to be a very strong one.
Engineer extraordinaire Don Halliday will be his race engineer.

At 33, Brack is not just a raw rookie. In reality he is a poised veteran.
Don’t be surprised if he has a season that many seasoned veterans haven’t
been able to equal. He could well be a championship contender.

FONTANA, Calif. (AP) -- Greg Moore was killed
Sunday in the season-ending CART race when he lost
control of his car at 220 mph (354 kph) and crashed
into a wall, spinning wildly and slamming into the
ground several times.

The 24-year-old Canadian, a budding star in the
open-wheel circuit, was airlifted to a hospital and
declared dead of massive head injuries about an hour
after the wreck at California Speedway.
