The ABCs of Sunnydale

buffy's discouraged Ms. Moran:

Debut -- Homecoming (Season 3)

Last Seen -- Same Episode

Ms. Moran's one of the teachers at Sunnydale High. Buffy catches up with her outside at school, hoping to get that glowing teacher's recommendation that she needs in order to appease Principal Snyder for letting her back into school. What kind of bites is that Moran, who taught Buffy's favorite class -- Contemporary American Heroes from Amelia Earhart to Maya Angelou -- doesn't remember her at all. Buffy gives her name, tells her where she sat, but all Ms. Moran can do is ask her if she was absent a lot...Sigh. Poor Bookcracker Buffy.

Moran's your basic teacher, probably in her '30s, though who can tell these days... She's no demon. She wears a skirt and blouse, doesn't look too matronly. Hey, it's just my way of saying she's thin, okay? I wondered who she hangs out with in the faculty lounge.

The fact that Ms. Moran didn't know Buffy at all adds to Buffy's feeling of displacement at school, which kind of helps kick off the storyline about Buffy's being determined to belong, revisiting her rivalry with Cordy, etc. Kind of like a return to the season one story arc of Buffy's wanting to be a normal chick.

Moran gets no quote. So there. Besides she didn't really say much anyway.
