Narixil*
of the Fens

You've entered a part of the fen's that seems quite remote and untouched by any other living things. Except for some birds churping and some insects buzzing you can only hear the wind and water. Like any other part of the fens, the ground is wet and marshy. The trees are thick, but beautiful. Their branches extend up very high, and the tips are tousled and played with by the wind. Moss hangs down of the lower branches, like greyish waterfalls. In front of you lies a large, crystal clear pool of water. A waterfall sits on the farthest side of it, and the sound of trickling water is like a natural melody, lulling you to sleep. On top of the pool lay many water lily's. Dragonflys hover to each one and you see the shiny scales of fish under the water, reflecting in the sun. A rush of air and an updraft of hundreds of leaves and other debris makes you look up into the clear blue sky. You shield your eyes with a hand and gasp at the sight you behold, a dragon. It's large, but you
seem to be not quite experienced in the area of dragons.
Using your better judgement, however, you note the
wingspan to be about 20 something feet on each wing. The
dragon itself is a little bigger than you would imagine.
It's colour is a deep midnight blue, yet it's wings are
lighter, and almost a sapphire sky blue. Even from above
you, it's eyes shine brilliantly, changing from silvery,
to turquoise, to blue, then back again. ah, excuse that visitor, i was not expecting anyone, i went out flying. I am bigger than you expected most dragons to be hmm? Give me am moment then... Before your eyes the dragon changes. She glows with light, and you see her outline shifting. Now, standing before you, is a tall girl. "There we go, i guess you enjoy this form better then?" You stutter, the girl grins, the same wry grin the dragon wore. And the eyes, the eyes are exactly the same, and they shine just as brightly. "My name is Narixil, Egg Master and Leader of the Fen Village. I admit though, as you seem to be thinking, i am younger than the other leaders. But i can cope, i do have very willing and capable apprentices too. Sorry if you do not like my lagoon, but i favour the fen terrain. I do enjoy the woods of Kalenik, and the large city of Citadel as well though. If you wonder, or would like to know how i came to be leader of the fen, then read this." She hands you a book. "I do enjoy remembering that story..." She blinks back a tear. "I am going to leave you now, tred lightly and respect all life. May the stars shine brightly on your path!" With that the girl is a dragon once more, the majestic blue dragon smiles at you, and launches into the sky in a single leap, kicking up a trail of dust in her wake. You watch her fade into a sparkling midnight blue dot in a sapphire blue sky. |
