Longlevens produced a marvellous team effort in defeating a very strong Old Patesians Second team.For most of the first half, both sides played some positive attacking rugby, yet were unable to break down each other's defence.The home side had the first chance to score after Old Pats were penalised for offside.Unfortunately full back Goran Antonjetvic hit the post with his penalty attempt and rebound was cleared to touch.'Levens kept on the attack and were rewarded another penalty, which this time Antonijetvic made no mistake in slotting home the first points of the game.It was now the turn of the visitors to pile on the pressure and despite creating several attacking phases, Longlevens' defence stood firm, from which their next points were to come. Flanker Richard Molloy collected a misjudged chip in the centre of the field and advanced into the Pats' half, the ball was shipped wide to winger Tristan Benjamin who touched down in the corner, Antonijetvic duly converted.Old Pats came back and lay siege on 'levens'
line, but again the home's side defence was rock solid and kept the visitors out till the half time whistle.
Old Pats started the second half strongly and collected a try through some clever counter attacking which resulted in a touch down under the posts, unbelievably the conversion was missed.Longlevens recovered straight away from the restart and after a split pass in the Old Pats' backline in their own 22, fly half Mike Foyle gathered the ball in time to feed centre Richard Rudge for a converted try under the posts.
The pace of the game started to wither in the unusually warm October afternoon and despite Old Pats looking to get back into the game, the 'levens defence never tired and even after a late try from the visitors, the home side kept the pressure on till the final whistle.
