Just a few poems I like and thought I'd share.. some were writtin for me, some weren't.. I'll be sure and give credit where credit is due..

"The Prom"

I went to a party, mom

I remembered what you said

You told me not to drink, mom

So I drank a soda instead.

I felt proud inside, mom

Just like you said I would

I didn't drink and drive, mom

Even though the others said I should.

I know I did the right thing, mom

I know your always right

Now the party is finally ending, mom

And everyone drives out of sight.

As I got in my car, mom

I knew I'd get home in one peice

Because the way you raised me, mom

So responsible and sweet.

I started to drive away, mom

But as I pulled onto the road

The other car didn't see me, mom

And hit me like a load.

As I lie here on the pavement, mom

I hear the other police say

The other guy was drunk, mom

Now I'm the one who'll pay.

I'm laying here dying, mom

I wish you would get here soon

How come this happened to me, mom

My life just burst like a balloon.

There is blood all around me, mom

Most of it is mine

I hear the paramedic say, mom

I'll be dead in a short time.

I just want to tell you, mom

I swear I didn't drink

It was the others, mom

The others didn't think.

He didn't know where he was going, mom

He was probably at the same party as I

The only difference is, mom

He drank and I'll die.

Why do people drink, mom

It can ruin their whole life

I'm feeling sharp pains now, mom

Pains just like a knife.

The guy who hit me is walking, mom

I don't think it's fair

I'm lying here dying, mom

And all he could do is stare.

Tell my brother not to cry, mom

And tell daddy to be brave

And when I get to heaven, mom

Write "Daddy's Girl" on my grave.

Someone should have told them, mom

Not to drink and drive

If only they had the time, mom

I'd still be alive.

My breath is getting shorter, mom

I'm becoming very scared

Please don't cry for me, mom

Because when I needed you...

You were alwayz there.

I have one last question, mom

Before I say good-bye

I didn't drink, mom

Why am I to die?

This is the end, mom

Wish I could look you in the eye

To say these final words, mom

"I love you and good-bye."

"Leigh Ann"

When I think of you,

I think of love,

You're my baby boo,

God sent... from above.

The only one to make me cry,

The only one to make me try,

Only God and I can see,

It's you, leigh.

As i look into your eyes,

I can see no lies,

I know you're the one for me,

Tell me you will be.

As I dedicate this to you,

Won't you say you love me too?

And mean it?

No kidding, not one bit?

I picked this up just for you,

Just to show my love is true,

First time in a year,

Just to hold you near.

- James Alan DeBusk

this poem was written for me by an ex, while we were together of course.

"My Sister"

Shes in pain,

theres nothing i can do

Shes my sister

I love her, yes i do

Her man has gone away

Without word or say

Its not right or fair

I wish in some way

I could console her,

But im just a simple boy

Not even a man,

no advising words to tell

Her pain gets to me,

I feel it deep inside

I know she could do better,

Than a male who isnt there,

But i also know she loves him,

And thats what realy counts,

Love should conquer all,

Its been said by many

But when one is selfish,

It doesnt help us all.

- Tim Webster

this one was written by my bro for me, during a tough time in a relationship.

"You Were There"

Rain fell down, you were there.

I cried for you when I hurt my hand,

Storm was rushing, wind was blowing,

I cried for you, you were there.

Whenever dark turns to night,

And all the dreams sing their song,

In the daylight forever, to you I belong.

Beside the sea, where the waves broke,

I drew a hear for you in the sand,

And fields where streams turned to rivers,

I ran to you, you were there.

Whenever dark turns to night,

And all the dreams sing their song,

In the daylight forever, to you I belong.
