This is truly a banger in every sense of the word.
Chief Xcel lays some spectacular soundscapes with
the use of the SoleSide/Quantum trade mark, the break beat.
Xcel's manipulation of breaks and samples often
mirror live instrumentation giving the neck of the
listener a real workout. The fresh production may
take a few listens before the underdevolped
listener, the 85% of the population, understand
that this is some shit that will last a life time.
Gift's lyrics, I mean what can I say. On this
album Gift proves that he is hands down one of the
best wordsmiths to date. He does everything you
expect an emcee to do, have dope battle lyrics,
able to flip styles on different topics besides
ripping a wack cats head off, and he has a nice
delivery. Also he compounds his ass off. Lyrics
Born and Lateef make some nice mic work that'll
have a few raised eye brows also. There is really
no need to go into individual songs because most
of 'em will have you searching for the rewind
button wondering what is the PURPOSE.
