Hanson says music is in the genes. Their parents, Diana and Walker, were in a traveling gospel group when they were younger. When Walker had to go to South America for a year with the whole Hanson Bunch, they brought 50s & 60s rock and roll tapes with them. Chuck Berry, Beatles, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Bobby Darin and other oldies are inspirations to Hanson. For 3 years, they sang a capella. Then 2 years ago, they picked up instruments, In 1995, they recorded an independent cd on their own label called Boomerang. It's mostly R&B from what I've heard. Another indie cd was released in 1996, MmmBop. That cd is totally written by the bros and is more of a pop rock thing since they had their instuments.
Then in June '96, Hasnon recieved a 6-album recording contract from Mercury and accepted it right away. And Middle of Nowhere come out in May of 1997! Also in late '97, Snowed In, their second album with Mercury Records came out!In May 1998,Hanson's 3rd international album was released!
So that makes 5 albums altogether!!
