Cahpter 1

Kevin walked onto the stage. He watched AJ and Howie high five each other as Howie had just finished his solo. This night seemed like any other night to Kevin. Same amount of screaming girls. Same high tension as he reached the end of his solo.
It was a little doll. Attached to it was a note ~ Hi, I’m Tarah, I’m 4 years old and I love your music. here’s a picture of me. My mommy is with me here and if you read this, we are happy. We were lucky enough to get front row seats to this concert! I love you lots! Tarah ~
”Oh, how cute.” Kevin said aloud.
“What is it cuz?” Brian went up to him as Nick began to sing.
“A little doll from a fan in the audience, she’s 4 years old.”
“You should invite her backstage, with her mom.”
“Ya, I should.”
“Your up Frick!” Nick came back stage and slapped Brian’s arm as he grabbed a bottle of water.
“Okie Dokie!” Brian ran on stage.
Brian finished his song and it was time for all the guys to go back on. Kevin scanned the front rows for any sign of a little girl. He saw a little girl and he held up the doll, asking if she threw it.
The little girl nodded her head quickly as she pointed to the doll, then at her self. The guys ran backstage for a woredrobe change and Kevin called Randy over.
“Hey, there’s this lady in the front row, with her 4 year old daughter. She’s about 10 seats in from the left. Can you invite her backstage and her daughter, for me. Take this doll and ask the girl if it’s hers.”
“Okay Kev.” Randy left the area. The boys sang a couple more songs then the show was over. Kevin was the first one in his dressing room, he wanted to shower real quick, before Tarah and her mom came back stage.
He finished showering quickly and walked down the hall to where his guest waited. There, sitting on a chair was the most beautiful woman he ever saw. “Go talk to her Kev.” Brian shoved him forward. Kevin walked up to her and sat next to her.
“Hi, I’m Kevin.” She turned to look at him.
“I’m Faith, it’s nice to meet you.”
“You too, so is this Tarah?”
“Ya.” Faith looked down at the sleeping child. “She’s pretty tired.”
“Do you have to leave?”
“No, she should be okay, as long as she’s asleep. Her worlds peaceful then.”
“Oh.” Kevin prayed that she’d wake up and turn. So he could see Faith’s left ring finger.
“So Kevin, do you know why I got tickets to come back here?”
“Well, I got the doll that Tarah had and I just wanted to thank you for it. I get a lot of gifts, but there was something special about this one.”
“Oh. Well, Tarah doesn’t even know who you are. She just really liked your music. while you were singing onstage, before the solo’s she picked out which guy she wanted to give it to.”
“Oh. So, do you live out here?”
“No, I’m on a trip.”
“Oh…” Kevin wanted to ask her about her husband, but he thought better of it. Tarah all of a sudden sat up and looked at her mom.
“Tired mommy… I wanna… go… yawn… sleep.” She fell back down, but the other direction. So Faith’s left hand was free.
“Do you have a tissue? Her nose is running.”
“Ya, here you go.” Faith reached out with her left hand and Kevin got a glimpse of her ring finger, no wedding ring.
“Thanks, she’s just getting over the cold.”
“Oh, that must suck when a 4 year old has a cold.”
“Well, I don’t think she minded it. To her it was a vaction. She got soup and got to watch TV all day. She also got a few new dolls.”
“Oh so, did you enjoy the concert?”
“Yes, very much, you guys are amazing singers.”
“Thanks.”
“You know, it’s late, I better go.”
“Well, can I give you a ride home or something?”
“Actually, I’m staying at a hotel.”
“Oh, well, can I give you a ride there?”
“Sure, but I don’t remember the name of the hotel.”
“Do you not want me to take you home?”
“I want you to take me home, but I really can’t remember the hotel name.”
“Can you direct me to it?”
“Sure.”
“Okay, let’s go.” Kevin and Faith walked out of the meeting room. “Do you wanna lay Tarah in back?”
“No, I’ll hold her.”
“Hey do you wanna ride in my limo?”
“You have your own limo?”
“Well, it’s all of the guys. But I’ll have the driver come back to get the guys.”
“Okay.”
“Can you tell the driver how to get there?” Kevin and Faith climbed in the limo.
“Ya.” She went up to the window that seperated the driver from the passengers. Faith explained how to get there and the driver knew where she was talking about.
“So, are you out here alone?” Faith sat back by Kevin. He scooted closer to her, but she moved away.
“Ya, just me and Tarah.”
“So, where’s your husband?” Kevin took a shot in the dark, maybe she had just not woren her ring.
“Husband? Ha, I’m not married. Um, Tarah was just from a past relationship. We aren’t together anymore.”
“Oh, so you are single?”
“Ya. Are you?” Faith looked at Kevin.
“Yes, I have been for about 2 months now.”
“Were you in a serious relationship before?”
“Ya, kinda.” Faith got the feeling that Kevin didn’t want to talk about it, so she left it at that. “So, how old are you?”
“Um, I’m 24, you?”
“27.”
“Oh.”
“Looks like we’re here.” Kevin and Faith got out of the limo. “Hey, this is my hotel.”
“Really.”
“Hold on. I’ll walk you in, let me just tell something.” Kevin turned and went to the driver. Faith looked at him then turned and went inside quickly.
Kevin turned back around, but Faith wasn’t there. He figures she went inside cause it was kinda cold. It was December and they were in Colorado.
He went inside but she was not in the lobby or anywhere else. He decided to try his luck at the front desk. Maybe they could tell him what room she was in.
“Hello Mr. Richardson, how can I help?”
“I met this girl and I gave her a ride here, but she went off…”
“Would you like her room number?” Kevin looked up at her.
“I don’t have her last name.”
“What’s her first name?”
“Faith.” The lady typed a few things on her keyboard. “Staying with a little girl named Tarah?”
“Ya, that’s her.”
“Okay, room 328.”
“Thanks.”
“You’re welcome.”
“Good night.”
“Night.” Kevin went to the elevator.
