Kentucky is a state diverse in its geography, culture, and peoples.
Kentucky requires Emergency Nurses who are exceptionally well prepared to meet its challenges.

The association which serves those nurses is
KENA: Kentucky Emergency Nurses Association.

ASSOCIATION POSITION:

Injury is the leading cause of death in the first four decades of life and is a leading cause of death in all age groups. Optimal care of the trauma patient requires a systematic and standardized team approach to care.  Nursing occupies a unique and essential position on the trauma team.
The Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) believes that the optimal care of the trauma patient is best accomplished within a framework in which all members of the trauma team use a systematic, standardized approach to the care of the injured patient.
ENA believes that emergency nurses are essential members of the trauma team. Morbidity and mortality of trauma patients can be significantly reduced by educating nurses to competently provide trauma care.
ENA believes that the Emergency Nurses Association and its constituents have the responsibility to facilitate trauma related continuing educational opportunities for nurses who provide care to trauma patients.
