How to make a wind chime using those

pesky CD’s that you get in the mail

Materials:

4 CDs

paint colors in your choice.

Some flexible wire for hanging the doodads on

Doodads, like beads or bangles or whatever to hang at the bottom

1.    Paint the disks first, then cut them.  You can use tin snips or poultry shears. If you heat them up with a blow dryer it softens them and makes cutting a lot easier.

2.    Take a ruler and draw a line down the middle of each and then cut 3 of them in half, leave one whole.

3.    Drill a hole in the bottom of each about 1/2" away from cut edge. You have to drill 2 holes in the cd you didn't cut in 1/2.

4.    Glue one of the halves on the line that you drew on the whole cd (it will kind of remind you of a fin on a fish)

5.    Next, go to the right of the fin and glue another on an angle, then do the same on the left side of fin making sure all your drilled holes are on the bottom.

6.    Let the glue dry then turn it over and do the same on the other side.

7.    Attach ribbon on top for hanging and add bow.

8.    Cut your wire in approximately 9" pieces. The example left a couple of inches straight then curled around a small paint brush to make a spiral and left a couple of more inches straight to string the beads on the bottom of wire.

9.    Attach the wires through the drilled holes

10.Lastly, spray them with clear paint.

These will probably not stand up to the elements if you hang them outside, but would probably do fine in a sheltered spot where they don’t get a lot of sun. Or, you can hang them inside.
