Then and Now

Cabin Inspections

Cleanest Cabin Award
Campers were expected to keep their cabins clean during the week.  After breakfast they were given time to clean up their cabins.  While they were gone to bible classes, counselors came by for inspections.  The inspectors were very picky at times, taking off points for any small piece of paper left in the cabin or yard.  Sometimes the campers write notes to the inspectors.

At lunch time, as the campers gathered around the flag pole, each cabin was critqued as far as cleaniness.  The dirty cabin was given the Pig Pen Award.  The best cabin was given the "Cleaniest Cabin Award."  There was usually big compeition on who would get what award.  If the cabin tried to get the Pig Pen Award by being intentionally messy, they were not given the award.

Periodically inspectors would find campers' cameras and take pictures of themselves with them.  I would have liked to have seen when the pictures were developed.
