Then and Now

Making a Fashion Statement

Here's a list of observations, and do's & don'ts for camp fashion through the years.

1991:  Tracy Speight wears a Vision Street Wear shirt which was popular in late 80s and early 90s
1992: Kim Johnson wears her obligatory name tag on the first day of camp.  Never wear this name tag after Monday.  Everyone should know everyone else's names after the first day.
Caped Crusader
1992:  Brandon Pitcock wears a Batman shirt which was popular in the late 80s and early 90s.
Back in Black
1993:  While wearing a black shirt may seem like a good idea at the time, any middle school science student can tell you that black absorbs heat, making for hot temperatures.  Somebody tell that to Johnny Kelton.
2000:  Brian, Dennis, and John try to start a new fashion trend by wearing their caps inside out.
1993:  A suit and tie doesn't work out very well at camp.
2001:  Having to wear a back brace to camp because you injured your back is definitely a fashion disaster.
2000:  If you must be injured at camp, at least be fashionable about it.
1994:  Connie McHenry dressed as an old woman.  Only wear your mother's clothes during skit night.
2001: Only dress as the opposite gender on skit night.
1994:  Don't be afraid to wear sunglasses at night
1994:  Brian Dyer makes his best attempt at winning the "Best Dressed Camper" award.
2001: Never let your friends dress you in other people's clothes.
1994:  Huge somberoes only look good on Mexican night.  In any other circumstance large headpieces can be bulky and difficult to carry.
1991: Wearing a Jubilee shirt will only spark riots between the liberals and conservatives
2001: Even common household items like aluminum foil can make great material for dressmaking.
1994:  Grudge never looked good in the 1990s and it didn't look good at camp.
1995: Always bring plenty of irons to iron your clothing at camp.

2001:  Showing support for a friend
1994: Always make sure your clothes fit before leaving for camp.  Otherwise you might end up wearing a too-small shirt on your back.

1997:  Even sunglasses and yellow felt can make the best fashion statement at camp
2001:  Make sure your clothes are free of mold before leaving for camp.
2002:  Always dress up for nightly worship services.
