Powers: Nappa has several ki powers, including the ability to cause long-range explosions by lifting his fingers, and the "Ultimate Skill" move, which is a blast fired from his mouth. He is an expert at growing the little warriors called Saibamen. His ultimate power, however, is the ability to become a legendary Super Saiyan-- though not on the same scale as any of the other known Super Saiyans.
Background: If you're a Dragonball Z fan and you don't know this guy, then something’s terribly wrong here. This is Nappa, once the most unbeatable foe the Z-Fighters had ever faced. He helped to raise young Prince Vegeta following King Vegeta's death, and traveled to Earth with the prince in search of Dragonballs. There, after killing Yamcha, Tenshinhan, Chaotzu, and Piccolo, the villainous Nappa met his match in Son Goku. Goku defeated Nappa, and Vegeta killed the crippled giant. However, Nappa's tale doesn't end there.
It seems that before his trip to Earth, Nappa had been romantically involved with another Saiyan, Asparaga. When she learned of his demise, she traveled to planet Arganora and utilized that world's little-known Dragon Balls to wish her lover back to life. Then, with their henchmen Noklok and Meebor, Nappa and Asparaga left Arganora and, learning that Freeza and all the powerful members of his family were dead, they went to Freeza's second cousin Frosta to become her bodyguards. Frosta admitted them into her forces.
Around this time, Nappa and Asparaga had a son, Tato. But the boy was soon kidnapped by Asparaga's sister Coliflur. Nappa and his mate voyaged to Earth to find and recover their son. There, Asparaga was killed in battle with the ZUY1/2 Fighters. The kidnapping of his son combined with the death of his mate drove Nappa to the edge, and he became… a Super Saiyan. But the ZUY1/2 Fighters were able to calm the brute down by assuring him they'd get his loved ones back unharmed. And sure enough, through the power of Earth's Dragon Balls and a long talk with Coliflur, they brought back both Tato and Asparaga. Reunited with his family, Nappa left Earth peacefully.
Following those events, Nappa traveled space with Asparaga, Frosta, and Meebor, raising young Tato. Eventually, at Asparaga’s urging, he moved to Planet Skwash, and following the arrival of the Saiyan Settlers, Nappa has become Skwash’s commander-in-chief of military forces. During the battle against the reborn Captain Ginyu, Nappa was briefly swayed to the dark side my Majin Kazam’s magic—but with the defeat of Kazam, he has returned to his allies none the worse for wear.
Recently, Asparaga gave birth to the couple’s second child, Honeydew. Though neither of them had planned on another child this late in life, they have thrown themselves into raising their daughter amidst the Saiyan community of Planet Skwash.
